Beats (PSP/PSN) Quick Review with Gameplay

Beats (PSP/PSN)

Beats has been available on PlayStation Network since December 2007.  This is an exclusive PSN title for the PSP, which means it is only available for the PSP via Download.  It is currently available for download for $4.99 USD.  We are huge fans of PSN titles and Beats is awesome!  With beats you use the D-Pad and Shape buttons on the PSP to follow the beat of your music on your Memory Stick or the supplied music tracks.  The visuals are excellent and the colors are vibrant and engaging.

Beats is a lot of fun many games in a row or if you just want to play a quick game while you’re on the go.  The replay value is high because you can play along with your music tracks or the many tracks that come with the game.  You can (and will) keep coming back to try to beat your high scores!  Additionally, there are 4 difficulty levels: Novice, Normal, Hard, Extreme.  For beginners, definitely start with an entry difficulty.  To get the most out of Beats, you will want to play at either a Normal or higher difficulty.

If you are playing along with your own music tracks, Beats analyzes the track before play and it is fairly accurate!  There is nothing better than loading your own tracks to the Memory Stick for play.  A useful note, however, if you are playing with your own tracks: it is best to play at a Normal or higher difficulty.  Beats analyzes your tracks better when on a higher difficulty.

Bottom-line, we think everyone will find something to enjoy about Beats.  It is focused around the player and his/her music taste.  We have included below a high quality video of Beats being played in Normal difficulty.  The video should give you a great visual of what to expect from Beats, available now on PSN for PSP.
