WipEout HD Fury Expansion Pack – Impressions with HD Videos

August 12, 2009 by techmonsterz

WipEout HD Fury Expansion was recently released on PSN for WipEout HD.  We love WipEout HD, and we love Fury Expansion.  With Fury you get the following:

  • 8 new tracks
  • 13 new ship models
  • 3 new game modes (2 available for online play)
  • new trophies
  • re-styled front-end game menu
  • new and improved multiplayer functionality

The three new game modes are to us the most exciting.  The three new game modes are: Eliminator (similar to WipEout Pulse on the PSP), Zone Battle, and Detonator.  If you own WipEout HD, we highly recommend purchasing the Fury Expansion.  If you do not own WipEout HD, now is the time to purchase it.  View our gameplay videos below showing the new Gameplay Modes and a New Track.

Killzone 2 – Last 10 Minutes of Gameplay in HD

August 12, 2009 by techmonsterz

We are huge fans of Killzone 2 on the PlayStation 3.  We have included the last 10 minutes of gameplay for you all to see.  The single player campaign too us about 6.5 hours to complete the first time around.  The ending is intense, and rewarding after you complete it.  The final cutscenes setup the games sequel (not confirmed) for a possible Killzone 3.  It will be interesting to see where the series goes from here.

Prince of Persia – First Impressions with HD Videos

August 12, 2009 by techmonsterz

Prince of Persia was released late last year in December 2008 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.  We are very impressed with this game!  If you are into Action/Adventure games, check this one out.  We also recommend this game for girls.

We like this game because it has a great story.  The visuals are top notch.  The graphics are a combo between anime/cartoon and 3D.  The cutscenes look great too, and help tell the story.  Controls are easy and fun, you can run across walls and slide down cliffs.

What makes this game great too is that you are followed by a Princess.  She helps you in times you need her special powers or when you are falling to your death, she picks you up.  It is a team effort to follow the story and play the game.  This too is another reason we recommend this game to girls as well (guys are going to like this game too).

All guys and girls who are Teens or above, rent or buy this game.  Check out our gameplay videos below in High Definition to get a feel for the game.  This is one of our favorites!

Battlefield 1943 – First Impressions with HD Video

August 12, 2009 by techmonsterz

Battlefield 1943, recently released on PSN for PS3 and Xbox Live Marketplace for the 360, has been a huge success and hit with gamers!  If you are a fan of shooters, you are sure to enjoy Battlefield 1943.  The only gripe we have with the game is the controls.  Other than the controls, everything is excellent.  We and many others can’t believe this game is only $15!  What is even better, is that it is downloadable and runs off your hard drive.

What is really neat other than the graphics, is that some/most of the scenery or buildings in the levels are destructible.  For example, you can blast a rocket at a building, and it blows a hole right through the wall.  Or, drive a jeep or a tank with explosives into a building, and it blows up.  A highlight of this game we really enjoy is the use of vehicles, tanks, stationary guns and weaponry, planes, ships, and more.  There is so much variety here in this title.  Go online today and buy this game if you have a PS3 or Xbox 360!

Fat Princess (PS3) First Impressions with HD Videos

August 12, 2009 by techmonsterz

Fat Princess, recently released on PSN, is a very interesting title.  The target audience for this game can be and is very broad.  Guys and girls, of all ages can find this title worth purchasing and enjoyable.

When Fat Princess initially launched, it was plagued by poor network connections.  It was in our opinion, unplayable.  A patch was recently released, which fixed or improved most of those connection issues.  Fat Princess is now playable online, and enjoyable!

There is a single player campaign, and online multiplayer capabilities.  Online Multiplayer is where the action is though.  Two teams are competing to bring back their Princess from enemy capture.  Sort of like Capture the Flag, but it is Capture the Princess.  You can (as well as the enemy) feed the Princess cake, to make her larger, therefore heavier.  This makes it more difficult for the other team to bring her back to safety.

There are different classes in which you can play as.  These classes you can pick up at any time by visiting the helmet machines, or picking up a loose helmet along the way in the level.  Classes range from the following: wizards, swordsmen, archers, priests, and workers.  There is no designated number of classes per team, you can all be 100% archers, or a combination of all, etc.

Overall, our First Impressions for this game are positive and enjoyable.  It will take time to get “better” at the game.  There is no set strategy or best way to accomplish or win the game.  So far it would seem best to pickup or turn on your headset mic so you can talk strategy with your teammates.  Other than that, the game is open for all and any strategies players can make.  The game is a ton of fun, everyone should check out this title.

Flower (PS3) Impressions with HD Video

August 12, 2009 by techmonsterz

Flower is available for Download Now on PSN, for the PlayStation 3.  This game we would recommend for anyone who owns a PS3.  Girls/Women of all ages are going to enjoy this game for sure!  Guys will also enjoy this game too, but will most likely use this game as a relaxer between intense shooters for example.

First off, the controls are very simple: Tilt the controller forward, backward, left, right.  Flower uses the built in motion sensors for a majority of the movement in this game.  Alongside the motion controls, you can use any “one” button on the controller as your action button to speed through and accelerate whenever you want.

The visuals are amazing!  Anyone looking at this game is sure to be in awe.  The visuals are complimented with an excellent soundtrack.  The soundtrack is orchestral and follows your actions (you’ll see in the video below).

Finally, the overall story is very simple.  You are to unlock flowers and greens to rejuvenate the poor environmental quality in each level.  As you fly through the levels and unlock the various sections, the environment turns to a healthy green with vibrant colors.  Some levels start off completely bare and dark.  It is your job to bring life back into the environment, and make it pretty again!

Flower is available now for Download on PSN.  Check out our gameplay video below in High Definition to see the amazing world of Flower.

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction (First Impressions)

August 12, 2009 by techmonsterz

We recently rented Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction on the PlayStation 3.  Our only other previous experience playing a Ratchet and Clank game was on the PSP, with Size Matters.  Soon, we will give First Impressions of Size Matters, but for now we’ll stick to Tools of Destruction.

Tools of Destruction has amazing visuals and cut scenes.  A broad range of weapons that are fun and exciting to use.  Many different and interesting enemies to defeat.  Overall, we are extremely impressed with this game.  Any gamer, of any age will probably enjoy this game.  Tools of Destruction was released in late October 2007.  It is an older title, but definitely fun to play.  There are too many other games at the moment taking up our time, so we weren’t able to finish the game, but we got more than a few hours invested into it.  It’s a great introduction to the series on the PS3 for any gamer (especially young ones).

There is a new title coming soon, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, later this year in October.  From what we hear this will be an amazing game!  Tools of Destruction all-in-all was very enjoyable and we can’t wait for the new title in October!

Resident Evil 5 – First Impressions with HD Videos

August 12, 2009 by techmonsterz

We here at TechMonsterz do not have a history of playing the Resident Evil games.  We did recently rent Resident Evil 5 for PS3.  The presentation, story, visuals, cutscenes, voice acting were all excellent!  We did not enjoy, though, the Inventory Menu and the difficult controls.  From our understanding the controls and Inventory Menu are similar to previous titles in the series.  Us being newcomers to the series found both of these frustrating to the point of sending the game back!

Reading other sources, they say long-time Resident Evil fans may not enjoy RE5 due to the Action Adventure turn, as previous titles were more of a Survival Horror genre.  Anyway, we would definitely recommend everyone check out this game because the quality is excellent.  Newcomers to the series may find this game difficult to control as we did.  Check out our high definition gameplay videos below:

Map Pack 2, released on PSN and Live Marketplace in June, includes four new Maps: Banzai, Corrosion, Sub Pens, and a Zombie Map Shi No Numa (Zombie Swamp).  We are fans of all three Map Packs available for World at War.  If you enjoy CoD: WaW then you are sure to enjoy the Map Packs.  Below we have included high definition gameplay videos of the three multiplayer maps.  In the future we may include videos and a review of the Nazi Zombie maps.
